Marc and I did stopped ant the wildlife refuge and later at the Island Nature Trail in Chincoteague. There were hundreds of newly hatched little toads.

Part two of our trip to Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park. I wasn’t there at night. I turned the daytime photograph into a nighttime one for fun.

Rick Cech led the group. He is an expert lepidopterist. I use his book, Butterflies of the East Coast: An Observer’s Guide: Cech, Rick, Tudor, Guy: Amazon.com, to identify butterflies.

I didn’t see many insects or birds. I heard a pileated woodpecker. I saw a few red tails, Eastern Phoebes, and tree swallows. I also spotted a bluebird and a few others. I also saw a spring azure that I couldn’t photograph and a pondhawk dragonfly.

Not very many birds that afternoon in the park. I found a few insects to photograph. Second of 4 posts.

There are lots of insects and flowers on Governors Island and Battery Park. We walked through Battery Park on the way to the bus home.

I slightly re-edited my Japanese Beetle. Photograph originally created at Ward Pound Ridge, Westchester County, New York on July 6, 2013.

A few odonates.
