Brooklyn Bridge Park

A mixture of wildlife that I found in the park. There is a little wetland area with a pond by the Bridge View Lawn.

The Loch and Harlem Meer

I attended a B & H Camera event in Central Park. The focus was taking photographs of waterfalls. I didn’t learn anything new. I know how to adjust the shutter speed an ISO to make the water look milky. I enjoyed networking with the photographers, some I knew already.

There is a painted turtle in the foreground of the first picture. The turtle swam up to and under the waterfall. I think it was having fun.

After the B & H event I photographed the Harlem Meer.

Creatures in the Loch

I saw these in The Loch at the north end of Central Park in New York City.

Chincoteague Marsh Trail 2

Some more form our walk (see the post before this one). The Fowler’s toad is dark one.

The last two photos were taken the next day as we left Chincoteague on June 8. The black vultures are eating a terrapin killed by a car. Marc was interviewed by a reporter for WBOC/Fox 21, of Delmarva on June 6. The young lady reporter wanted our opinion about terrapin road kills and what should be done. We said signs are needed, especially during nesting season. It is the female terrapins that are getting killed.

Chincoteague Boat Trip

We took a nature oriented boat trip with the Littoral group. This is the first of 5 posts on that trip. It started off overcast and cleared up a bit later. The female terrapin came ashore to lay her eggs.

Celery Farm Wildlife

There were dozens of huge Snapping Turtles. The highlight of the day was the Eastern Screech Owl that a kind person showed us.

Ward Pound Ridge Wildlife

I didn’t see many insects or birds. I heard a pileated woodpecker. I saw a few red tails, Eastern Phoebes, and tree swallows. I also spotted a bluebird and a few others. I also saw a spring azure that I couldn’t photograph and a pondhawk dragonfly.

Ipswich River

On the third day Don led us on a canoe trip. The boats were rented from Foote Brothers Canoes. The plan was to paddle past three bridges. The water level was low and we only made it past two bridges because downed trees blocked our passage.
