Ward Pound Ridge Landscapes

I don’t go hiking deep into Ward Pound Ridge. I see more butterflies at the edges.

Here is some history: Ward Pound Ridge Reservation History

Ward Pound Ridge Butterflies

To sort out the Comma from a Question Mark butterfly one needs to see the underside or ventral side (first two images).

Ward Pound Ridge Insects

Always a joy to spend a day at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. Marc photographed the spider wasp. It wasn’t until I processed it that I saw it was injecting a spider with its eggs.

Bear Mountain Bridge

We had planned to drive up to Bear Mountain. However, the road to the top was closed because rain was expected. So we stopped at Bear Mountain Bridge – Wikipedia instead. More information is on this site: Bear Mountain Bridge | History | Facts

Cranberry Lake Preserve

Cranberry Lake Preserve is in Westchester County, New York. It is by the Kensico Reservoir. We had a nice 1.5 mile hiked around the pond. I prefer scrambled eggs to dog vomit for the name of the fungus. I gave the last three photographs watercolor and sketch effects in Photoshop.

WPR Landscapes

The last of 7 posts on our trip to Ward Pound Ridge. Marc photographed the first 3 and I enhanced them.

WPR Plants

Sometimes I’ll use iNaturalist on my phone at home to ID a plant on the computer screen. When that doesn’t work, I’ll search online until I find it. I am not sure about my berry ID in the last photo.

WPR Birds

I didn’t see that many birds. My focus was on insects. I used AI to fix the blurry chipping sparrow.
