Second post in this series. We watched the Ebony Jewelwings mate and lay eggs. Some I have never seen like the mole cricket.

An small assortment of wildlife and plants that we found in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Gatlinburg.

On our second drive though Roaring Fork I concentrated on nature. The Smokies are full of wildflowers in the spring. I saw many new species. I added a couple of things seen other places to this post. I welcome corrections to my attempts at identification.

Some of the wildlife at Marine Park. The patter of duck feet on the water as they take off makes me smile.

Marc is so good at finding Preying Mantids. I did not know what the first one was. It was over an inch in size. Prompted by Rudi at Picpholio I went to bugguide.net and in craneflies I found one like it labeled Large Crane Flies (Tipulidae)

Calvert Vaux Park : NYC Parks (nycgovparks.org) is a park consisting mostly of ball fields by Coney Island Creek in Gravesend, Brooklyn. It has seme nice shorefront areas. This is one of 3 posts. Marc found the preying mantis in the wildflower area. The locust borer is a new one for me.

I think the flesh fly is smartly dressed.
