Why I Edit

1. The human eye has a much wider dynamic range than a camera. It allows the eye to see details in both very bright and very dark areas simultaneously. Cameras have a more limited dynamic range compared to the human eye.
2. Editing allows me to create my artistic vision.
3. Photography as an art requires post processing. Example: Ansel Adams edited his images.

A friend shared her thoughts with me. She said that learning that I edit and enhance my photographs was the last straw. She will no longer look at my monotonous photographs.

Here are some examples. I think you can tell which ones are my edited versions.

Before and After: AI Enhancements on Roaring Forks Image

I am starting to play around with Midjourney and Magnific AI apps. The first image is before using AI and the second image is after adding ferns and removing the road.

North Through Virginia

We drove through a small part of North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and up through part of Pennsylvania back to New York. There was fog early in the mornings. We spread the trip out over three days and stayed overnight at two places. The drive from Gatlinburg is 710 miles and if we drove straight would take over 11 hours. I took these with a Samsung Galaxy S22.

Salt and Pepper Museum

There are thousands of different salt and pepper shakers at the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum in Gatlinburg. We went out of curiosity. I was amazed. Of course I had to buy a set (second from last image). At an antique store on the way home in Beaver Creek, Hagerstown, Maryland I bought a frog teapot (last image).

Great Smokey Mts Nature

An small assortment of wildlife and plants that we found in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Gatlinburg.

Great Smoky Mts Landscapes

Views from a couple of lookouts along Newfoundland Gap Road plus one waterfall photograph. Time of day and how much foreground changes the look of the image. Changing the skies would change the feeling a lot too.

Covered Bridges in Tennessee

For a change of scenery we explored the area for covered bridges. We saw two of the 6 in this list: List of covered bridges in Tennessee – Wikipedia. The countryside is very lovely in Sevier County. Included are two old houses at the end.

Bent Creek Resort

We stayed for a week at Bent Creek Golf Resort, a Hilton Vacation Club in Gatlinburg, Tennessee while we explored the Great Smoky Mountains nearby. I loved the rooms which included all the amenities for a long stay. It was clean and quiet. I didn’t like the golf course because I could not walk around it or enjoy nature there. We could only look at it from a distance. One morning we were granted a brief look at the grounds before the golfers got there. Golf courses are such a waste of land and provide little for wildlife.
