Green-Wood

More pictures form our excursion to Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. The last photograph shows three obelisks. The third obelisk in the background is the Freedom Tower in Manhattan.

Heron at Green-Wood

We drove around Green-Wood Cemetery on Sunday. Marc captured the first two shots of the young Great Blue Heron.

Rye and Meadowlands

We had a lovely trip birding with the Linnaean Society of NY to Rye Playlands and the Meadowland Conservancy in Westchester County, New York. The highlights were a flock of Snow Buntings, a Cooper’s Hawk, and a White-Fronted Goose.

High Line Details

After a very long wait due to the chip shortage I bought a NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f2-8 VR S lens for my Nikon Z7 camera. I love the lens. It is so much lighter than the micro lens one I use on my Nikon D750. I took it for its first test run to the High Line when I walked back home from B& H Camera and Video store at 34th Street. No edits necessary on these photographs.

Cold Spring and Cove Neck

Cold Spring Harbor, Nassau County, Long Island, NY About The Village | Cold Spring, NY was the start of a lovely day. We ate lunch at a lovely restaurant, the Harbor Mist, by Oyster Bay inlet on the Long Island Sound. There is a little park there dedicated to Billy Joel. Cold Spring Harbor was the name of Billy Joel’s first album in November 1, 1971.

Next we drove to Cove Neck on the opposite shore to see Sagamore Hill. Sagamore Hill was the home of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States, from 1885 until his death in 1919. There is lots of history and pictures at the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, NPS site. I installed The NPS App – Digital (U.S. National Park Service) app and watched VR tours of Sagamore Hill National Historic Site.

Leroy Street

Near the Hudson River on Leroy Street is a new building. I stopped to photograph the door and tree. The doorman came out and told me not to take photographs. I told him it is legal to take photographs of places if you are standing on public property.

I threw in the two trees for extras.

For Thursday Doors December 9, 2021.

Manhattan Skyline

We went by Ferry from Battery Park City at Vesey Street for a photoshoot at Paulus Hook, Jersey City in November with Sierra Photo of New York City to photograph the moon over the Freedom Tower in Manhattan.

As the sky changed colors so did the light and color on the buildings in Manhattan.

We spent a lot of time waiting for the moon to peak out of the clouds. It finally did. I was amused by the moon creating a moonsicle on the antenna on top of the Freedom Tower.
