Some plants and landscapes and our little group of butterfly hunters.

Second post in this series. We watched the Ebony Jewelwings mate and lay eggs. Some I have never seen like the mole cricket.

Early June butterflies in Ward Pound Ridge Reservation (westchestergov.com) seen during a trip led by Rick Cech (author of books on the subject) along with several other experts as part of a The Linnaean Society of New York (linnaeannewyork.org) trip. We had a great time looking for insects and other wildlife. I had help identifying some of these.

The author, Lewis Carroll, used to stroll through English gardens in the 19th century. There are hollyhocks, foxgloves, snapdragons, roses and more. The fascinating tower of Jewels was originally from the Canary Islands. Exhibition Highlights | New York Botanical Garden (nybg.org)
