NYBG Orchids 4

I bought an orchid. I named it “Spot” (first photograph). I hope it likes it here. The rest of the photographs are from the orchid show and at the New York Botanical Gardens.

NYBG Orchids 2

This post is a continuation of the previous post of the structures in this orchid show. The theme is the concrete jungle. I like all the black, it makes the orchids color’s pop.

NYBG Orchid Doors

We went to see the annual The Orchid Show: Mr. Flower Fantastic’s Concrete Jungle | New York Botanical Garden. Very unusual setting s this year. I’m not sure if I liked it. The orchids in circular laundry doors are fun.

A quote from the NYBG website:

New York City has never bloomed like this. At The Orchid Show: Mr. Flower Fantastic’s Concrete Jungle, orchids collide with concrete in a dazzling reimagining of the Big Apple, from stoops and slice shops to the subway itself. Step into a breathtaking fusion of nature and cityscape artistry in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, and experience the flair and style of New York transformed by thousands of flowers.

NYBG Train Show 2 of 2

That these buildings at the Holiday Train Show® | New York Botanical Garden are made of plant material is amazing. I love the huge leaf roof on the TWA building. The airplanes are fun too.

NYBG Train Show Buildings 1 of 2

I photographed these at the Holiday Train Show® | New York Botanical Garden. The last three photographs are of places where I briefly acted as a tour guide. At that time, I was an Urban Park Ranger (1989 to 1991). When we opened the Little Red Lighthouse – Wikipedia to visitors, I met an old fellow. He used to swim there before the George Washington Bridge was built in 1931.

NYBG TRain Show Sculptures

At the New York Botanical Garden’s Holiday Train Show there are creative sculptures and decorations made of plant matter. Most of them are in the outdoor area.
