Herons

Herons at The Pond in Central Park. I created one for Halloween.

Central Park Lark

I went to the park to find a rare Lark Sparrow that was reported. I found it but didn’t get a clear shot. At least I have blurry ones for my records. The wren was more obliging.

Central Park with LSNY

The first Central Park walk with The Linnaean Society of New York took place on 9/8/2020. I managed a few shots wile we looked for birds. Check out their site for upcoming programs and field trips.

Butterflies and Skippers

We I stopped for a bite at the Hidden Oak Cafe in the Manor House at Bayard Cutting Arboretum. The surrounding gardens were full of butterflies and skippers (labeled to the best of my ability – corrections appreciated):

Central Park August 31

A nice day in the park. We didn’t see many warblers, but there is always something lovely to see.

Hilltop, Garret Mt, and River Barge

We went to 3 places in in New Jersey in the afternoon of September the 28th that we haven’t seen before: Hilltop Reservation, Garret Mountain Reservation, and River Barge Park.

JB and FBF

Jamaica Bay and Floyd Bennett Field are part of Gateway NRA, Brooklyn, New York. I added the artichoke at the end because I like the flowers.

Afternoon at Pelham

Last Friday we went to Pelham Bay Park, Bronx, New York in the afternoon and had a 3 mile hike around Hunter Island. The views are lovely, but it was hot and buggy. After that we drove to the Lobster Shack on City Island to buy a take out. While parked off the road in a driveway a crew cab pickup truck scraped the paint off the edge of our side mirror. The list of mishaps grows long for our little VW Jetta “James”. We’ve only had it a couple of months.
