    You captured the essence of the Pine Barrens beautifully here, Sherry. That you mentioned in an above comment that it was “mysterious and spooky” is reflected in the photos. I really like all the flora photos here, especially the pussy toes, pitch pine and lichen.

    I like the blooms and the lichen, and especially the woodland mystery paths.

      The Pine Barrens feels mysterious and spooky to me. Not someplace I would like to be lost in. And it is easy to get lost there.

    I may have asked you this and forgotten, but have you read John McPhee’s The Pine Barrens? It’s quite a good book, and it’s nice to have your images to go with it.

      I haven’t read McPhee’s Pine Barrens yet. I will – thanks for the tip. I loved his Basin and Range and other books on Geology.
