Jamaica Bay

I went to Jamaica Bay NWR in Brooklyn with two dear friends yesterday. There were quite a few winter ducks. I enjoyed the Brant and Snow Geese. A special one was the Long Tailed Duck at Sheepshead Bay. The best one for me was the Long-tailed Grackle who serenaded us. As part of its song it did a wing slap. I learned something new. It was real treat to get out and bird.

Central Park with LSNY

I attended a field trip for winter birds led by Richard Z. for The Linnaean Society of New York on Saturday. The write-up for the trip is on the LSNY site that I manage and designed for the organization.

I had fun embellishing these images.

Two rarities were a partially leucistic Grackle and a young Red-headed Woodpecker.

North Central Park

I made these photographs during a trip with Sierra Photo NYC in January.

6BC Garden

I had some fun today with Corel Painter and other apps and I also added a few effects in Photoshop.

Sunset at Jamaica Bay

Marc and I went to the Littoral Society’s NE Chapter annual dinner last Sunday. Before the dinner I had time to take a few shots of a fabulous sunset at the Jamaica Bay NWR.
