Jones Beach in January

I hoped to see some winter birds but didn’t find many. Plenty of Brant, a Harrier or two and a few others. Here are some blue and brown winter beach landscapes. It was very cold.

Oyster Bay B&W

Conversions of two photographs from Oyster Bay – Sherry Felix – port4u and Hempstead Harbor – Sherry Felix – port4u to black and white.

Hempstead Harbor

During my search for winter ducks in Oyster Bay, Long Island, we stopped at Hampstead Harbor Shoreline Park with its desolate derelict piers. We parked at a little memorial to sandminers on West Shore Road: History of Sandmining in Port Washington: Sandminers Monument Inc.

Oyster Bay

A winter drive to Long Island on new years day. I was looking for ducks at Oyster bay. Saw a few, including a Common Loon and some Canvas Backs. I wasn’t able to photograph them as they were too far off. I settled for some winter landscapes.

Old Bethpage Doors

Old Bethpage 2

After seeing the village we went for lunch at Cold Spring Harbor.

Old Bethpage 1

Old Bethpage Village (Home (oldbethpagevillagerestoration.org)) is in Nassau County, Long Island, New York. We had fun talking with the interpreters. Some of the trees had lovely color. There was a lot to see so I made many photographs.

Bayard Cutting Plants

Seed pods are wonderful. I was intrigued by the arborvitae and the first one which I don’t know.
