Little Island Structures
The new manmade park, Little Island, in the Hudson River near where we live is immensely popular. There are benches and now that masks are off in the open we can use them. There are food vendors and live performances. Unfortunately they all sold out at the moment. More to come…
High Line Views
Also on last Sunday at the High Line. I look forward to the opening of Little Island in the Hudson. I photographed 2 of the art instantons that interested me.

Hudson River Park
Hudson River Park at sunset. I was testing how much light and noise is created when using my my new 2x teleconverter for the Nikkor Z 70-200mm f /2.8 VR S lens on my Nikon Z7. This 2x teleconverter gives the lens a 100% boost (effectively giving me a 140-400mm f/5.6 – loosing ~2 stops of light). I think the results of these photos taken in low light after noise reduction in post are acceptable. Once a long time ago I tried a 2x teleconverter on an f/5.6 lens it lost so much light the images were too grainy to use.

Hudson River Park
We took a walk up top pier 63, Hudson River Park. One of the new features in my Nikon Z 7 is something called Focus Shift Shooting. The camera will take up to 300 shots at sequential focus settings. This is good for macro photography. Then the images are stacked and merged in Photoshop. I took 20 focus shift shots for the first photo below. I look forward to experimenting with this feature.

Hudson Yards
I took a walk with my new Nikon Z 7 and wet by Hudson Yards which has a shopping complex in one of the buildings. It is the first time I’ve been there. It felt deserted because there were so few shoppers. Many stores were not open and there’s lots of spaced for new ones. The lights were lovely and created interesting reflections. The Vessel is an interesting feature. I haven’t been up it yet. On the way back home I stopped at the river for a minute.

Hudson Sunset
Early in June I took these photos at the Hudson River Park near us. There was a family of Canada Geese on the walkway. A man gave the goslings a dish of water. They didn’t mind all the people passing by.

Greenwich Village and the Hudson River
I haven’t seen the streets in my neighborhood so empty since 9/11.
Above the couple of panoramas created in my cell phone is one I call “Hudson River Park – flames.” When I saw the rust pattern on the floating dock it mirrored a same shape in the skyline. I superimposed the pattern in Photoshop on the skyline to bring out what I imagined.
