EB Forsythe NWR

We drove to Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge | U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (fws.gov) yesterday. First we stopped at Lucilles Luncheonette – Breakfast & Lunch Warren Grove, Stafford Twp. NJ for breakfast. Bought a sandwich there to have with some butternut soup. We spent the day driving around the preserve. The snow geese were spectacular. I caught a glamps of a Virginia Rail as it crossed the road.

Snow geese are amazing. Especially when there are a lot of them.

FORSYTHE is beautiful all times of year. Yesterday 1/13 fabulous ominous dark as well as light blue skies with snow geese flying in by the thousands. Also a treat yesterday, Two meadow larks and two Easter. Bluebirds I. Great light. Anytime you go to Forsythr you will be rewarded.

What splendid photos: especially of the geese. I’ve occasionally seen flocks, but one like these only once. Yesterday, I did find what I think were a pair of snow geese in an unusual spot — they were feeding in a large group of ibis.

Where the snow geese with white Ibis? At least they would blend in a bit.

Yes, they were. That’s why it took me a while to register what I was seeing. The body and bill colors were so similar, my mind couldn’t immediately sort them out!

These are so many varieties of birds on the water. Anita

This trip I didn’t see that many species. It was still good to see what we did.

Thanks. I always enjoy going there. It is a long drive from Manhattan but well worth it.

The snow geese migration is a huge draw for birders in southern Alberta in the fall (October) – it’s on the bucket list!

There are way more there than here.

I can just see those snow geese fluttering in the sunlight

They do seem to sparkle. I can still hear their honking. 🙂
