New Paltz Doors

The Huguenot settlement in New Paltz was founded in 1677 on land purchased from the Munsee. Here’s a bit of native American history in the region.

For Norm’s Thursday Doors.

These are wonderful doors. I’ve been to New Paltz (many years ago) but I didn’t know the history.

Thanks Dan. They have an excellent historical society there.

Oh, way cool-looking history-rich place! Thanks for the tip. Duly noted for my next trip into that part of New York. At this point, lord only knows when that may even be possible.

Whenever I see a stone house I always imagine 18inch walls that keeps everything out.. hot, cold. 😊 I wonder if anyone builds like that anymore😊. Nice post!!

I like the idea of a thickly insulated home. Very green.

Yes. I’ve read that Hemingway’s old house on Key West has walls that thick and has with stood all those hurricanes!!

All great pics and I love the first one but the red doors and shutters really do it for me 🙂
