5 Ninth Avenue

Marc has often tended the wisteria vine by watering it and pruning weeds. We live close by.

Bruce Pecheur and Sierra Bandit were stabbed to death at 5 Ninth Avenue on on August 16, 1973. They were victims of a robbery. Sierra Bandit was a makeup artists and worked with me on Psychedelic Burlesque in 1968.

“Moments before he died of multiple stab wounds, Pecheur managed to shoot and kill the intruder who had broken into the apartment bedroom he shared with his wife Lucy.
Bruce Pecheur in was born in 1942. He was an actor, known for Cry Uncle (1971), Samrtno prolece (1973) and The Road to Salina (1970). He was married to Sierra Bandit.

    That’s so sad. We often never know what’s transpired in places we visit. I’m sorry you lost Bruce and Sierra.

      It was a very long time ago. Ancient history now.

    I enjoyed the photos and the video tour, Sherry. It’s hard knowing the sad history. It must be harder for you having known Sierra. Crimes like this are senseless and the sadness lingers. I am glad to see it’s now an art gallery.

      I feel that the wisteria is a memorial to them. I’m also pleased to see the interior hasn’t been gutted like so many other town houses around here.
