Manhattan from Brooklyn

Views of Manhattan from Brooklyn Bridge Park during the OPTIC trip. An artist was using a strange contraption to make his art.

Old Pier 1 Pilings

The last stop of the OPTIC trip to Brooklyn Bridge Park was at the pilings of Old Pier 1 with a view of Manhattan at sunset led by National Parks at Night.

Brooklyn Bridge Park

We attended a walk in Dumbo led by photographers who gave talks and classes at OPTIC. We split up into groups. I went around Brooklyn Bridge Park with Camille Seaman who gave a talk on the Polar Regions at OPTIC. She is a Shinnecock Native American photographer. I like her message and style of teaching. There was a filming of the Best Man… taking place there too.

The Edge

After a day’s series of lectures and workshops at OPTIC by B&H Photo and Video provided and free dinner followed by a trip to the Edge | Into The Sky. Out Of This World. (edgenyc.com). The viewing platform is terrifyingly high. For the adventurous the offer “City Climb” which allows one to climb higher. I got a thrill going out onto the glass floor. As a New Yorker I never wanted to pay to go see the Edge. I did enjoy it.

OPTC Still Lifes

From June 12 to 15 I took part in B&H Photo and Video’s OPTIC 2022 Event (bhphotovideo.com). All I can say is wow! Thank you B&H and a special shout out to the organizers, like David Brommer. It is simply amazing that one can go to free events like this and learn so much and have so much fun. I bought some more gear at B&H too.

There were lectures by top photographers and teachers, Scott Kelby, Matt Kloskowski, and Alen Shapiro to name a few. Thanks to Canon, Sony, Nikon and other sponsors we had three days of outside events. There was a competition and free prints and much more. I’ll cover the events in subsequent posts.

Still life’s provided at the show which was at the New Yorker hotel…
