We attended the 19th Shorebird Festival at Jamaica Bay NWR. It was great seeing lots of old birder friends there. Don Riepe gave a talk and so did Kevin Karlson who introduced his new book. We we went to the East and West Ponds to look at the shorebirds.

I’m assuming most of the photos are yours, but once in a while they’re Mark’s. Right?
Your orange shorts are the giveaway.
I hope this day at Jamaica Bay was far more pleasant that the ones at Gloucester. We have had fewer miserably hot days recently, although Wednesday was a killer.
The photos are all terrific. Gracias.
Martha
I like the reflected wader and the birder scenes
Thanks Derrick. I hope you recover soon and get out to enjoy nature. Your garden is a blessing.
Your reflection photo is extremely elegant! I could not figure out how to leave a note for Linda about her experience in Stonington, Maine so I’ll comment here and hope it gets to here: Linda-as a New Yorker and very much a New Englander, I very much enjoyed your description of life in Stonington, Me.!
There are two reflected bird images. The last photo is a book cover not by me. To comment to Linda select her comment and reply to it below her comment.
Hi Sherry Thx for the info and photos of the JB Shorebird . Did not know about it and will hope to go next year. I am grateful to be on you photo list as I am seeing parts of the USA I have never seen before and revisiting some of my old stomping grounds. Just settling into Stonington, Maine 560 miles from the city and enjoying life in a small fishing village for a week. The whole town is asleep by 8 and up and reving up the diesel engines of lobster boats by 4A M. We come back every year for a week. The town has a special magic. All My Best and the thanks again for all your photos. Xxoo Linda
If you sign up at the Littoral Society you’ll get notified. Stonington sounds wonderful. So good to hear from you, Linda.
My friend Barbara sends you a message. It is in her comment.
These are great photos, Sherry. I love the one with the reflection. That’s an amazing photo.
Thanks. The last one is a book cover.
I meant the ones you have with reflections, but that’s a cool book cover, too.
