Camellias Red

The next 3 posts are images created from my photographs made during a visit to the Planting Fields Foundation Planting Fields arboretum in Nassau County, Long Island, New York with Sierra Photo New York City. This set and the next post are from the Camellia Greenhouse.

A delightful celebration of the camellias here, Sherry. I love the floating ones, a creative display, and the second one, an elegant profile. The fifth one, a close-up, is so beautiful and one of the petals is a little heart. The last one, too, in that beautiful side pose with the arching branch.

Oh, gosh, I have plans every day this weekend or else I would try to arrange to get together. Hopefully, we can soon! I reconnected (after 50 years!) with Marie Peters Barbera last week – she is Uncle Augie’s youngest granddaughter. Augie was your grandma Hannah’s older brother. Marie is the daughter of Augie’s daughter Marie May Peters. She had two siblings – Carol and Billy, but both have passed away. I think Marie was born in ’55. They have a house down in Florida and have maintained a home in Elmsford in Westchester, so I hope to get to see her there this summer. I have a picture of her and cousin Kenny on my frig from my grammar school graduation and Laurie was able to connect us thanks to Kenny’s son Kenneth. She is on Facebook, but I am not.

All is well here. I have a reunion cruise planned for Hassan’s Med School friends the beginning of May out of LA. In the meantime, I have to go through 75 scholarship applications for two scholarships which we have established in Hassan’s name. I never expected so many applicants! I am also running for the School Board again, but that shouldn’t involve extra work until July. I have chaired their Policy Committee since 2000 and that does involve lots of monthly reading and reporting on.

Give my love to Marc and enjoy this weekend!

        Love, Cathy
