Rather than walk with the Linnaean Society’s field trip we drove. I injured my Achilles tendon and walking is painful. We cam across the group at Crescent Water and they excitedly beckoned us over. There was a Wilson’s Snipe there. It wasn’t as birdy a day as it could have been.
Wood ducks are probably my second favorite duck (first is pintails) – so colorful.
Manderin ducks are fabulously colored too. Pintails are cool.
Wonderful photos of the snipe. We don’t see any of these species in our hemisphere. Would you like to add this collection to the birds of the week?

These are wonderful captures, Sherry. I don’t remember ever seeing a Wilson’s snipe before. That’s a beautiful bird. I love seeing Flickers, and that’s a cool in-flight shot of the hawk.

Wonderful picture of the Wilson’s Snipe! I have found it very difficult to get a good photo of the Wilson’s Snipe. Mainly because they see me before I see them.
This one was stuck under a bush between the path and the water. It didn’t know when way to run LOL.
