I plan to use one of these for a show to be judged in OPTIC2019 by B&H. I need to pick one by tomorrow and I am having trouble. I’d love to know which one you would you choose? HELP!
Results as of 3 pm EST 6/1/2019: Hermit Thrush won.
Flower, Hudson 2, Tulip leaves 1, Hermit Trhush 5, Scarlet Tanager 4, Yellowthroat 2, Yellowthroat female 1, Iris 2.
Thank you for taking the time to help me choose.
Flower, Hudson 4/24/2011 Tulip Leaves, Abingdon Square 4/16/20119 Hermit Thrush, Central Park 5/2/2019 Scarlet Tanager, Central Park 5/22019 Common Yellowthroat Warbler, Central Park 5/2/2019 Common Yellowthroat Warbler (Geothlypis trichas), Central Park 5/16/2019 Iris Family (Iridaceae), St Luke’s 5/18/2019
All are lovely, but if I have to choose I would say the number 1.

Had I seen this post sooner, I would have chosen the common yellowthroat taken on May 16.

Thanks. But now you’ve made it a tie with the Thrush and I’ll have to flip a coin. 🤔

Such beautiful photos. All the bird shots are memorable. I like the quiet understatement of photo 3 but perhaps photo 4 is more striking and would stand out better in a competition. Good luck. Your work deserves wider recognition.

That’s such a lovely collection that I can see why you are having trouble with choosing between them. I love photos of birds. The Thrush is lovely, you caught it at a lovely moment, hopping. The tanager is a beautiful splash of colour. But for me right now (it could be different tomorrow) the warblers are standouts. I found the first one more striking, but the second one has more details to focus on. The choice could depend on how large the print is.

I’m partial to the Iris, even though B&H may be biased against them. My second choice would be the Thrush. That tentative step off the log is a lovely piece of motion and makes it quite unique.

I would choose the yellowthroat warbler 5/2. People at B&H (in my opinion) are prejudiced against flowers. I like the scarlet tanager but he is flying away not toward. the other yellowthroat to me is too busy. I’m sure you will get a different opinions from all other responses.

I know why you are having such a hard time they are all so beautiful. I would pick the scarlet tanager. It is striking and it shows your skill in capturing the moving wings which are like in themselves works of art. Amazing photo. My second would be the tulip leaves. GOOD LUCK!! Linda

The iris is lovely, but the textures and the delicacy of the first one do it for me…. Good luck!

I, too, would go for the hermit thrush which wins over the warbler by virtue of the sharpness of the eye

How to choose between these? They’re stunning! I really wouldn’t know how to choose as they all offer something different. My first inclination would be the Hermit Thrush in Central Park; it’s got a dream-like quality to it and you’ve got the birdie just as he’s taking a step, which is incredible. The Scarlet Tanager is a close second for being so bold & distinctive. Just wow at all of these! Good luck with the show 🙂
