We spent a day at Old Westbury Gardens. Old Westbury is a village in the Town of North Hempstead and Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York.
It took me a long time to process all the pictures because I was receiving treatments for a Lyme flare up. I am on the mend now.
First we attended a tour of the house. More on Old Westbury in the next 8 posts.

Lovely photos, Sherry. I’m glad you’re feeling better.
It’s a great house! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Many thanks.
I’m glad you’re feeling better after your Lyme flare up. I love period houses and your photos show how beautiful this one is. Favourite pic is the second one,
Thanks Eunice. Taht one is by Marc.
When I saw the third photo in the series, I was struck by the similarities with Louisiana plantation homes. The building materials may be different, but the design is almost exactly the same — perhaps some of those Louisiana homes were built by people who came from areas like Westbury.
Wealthy people liked to dec0rate in a European style that they thought showed off their wealth and sophistication. Much of it was over the top 🙂
Thanks for sharing these wonderful places that brings us back in time.
Your welcome 🙂
