After a visit to Ikea to buy a kitchen ladder we drove to a pier in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Dancers were preforming in the little park.

It’s a lovely spot with an interesting history. I presumed Mr. Valentino was a politician or some such. Not so. He was a fire fighter. “On February 5, 1996, Valentino lost his life while searching for wounded firefighters in a three-alarm blaze in an illegal Flatlands garage. Louis Valentino, Jr. Park and Pier preserves the memory of a man who demonstrated selfless devotion to fighting fires and saving lives.”

Thanks for adding the history on Valentino history. I’m glad he was honored that way.
