Alwyn Court is just below Central Park on 7th Avenue. Definitely OT.
“The Alwyn Court, also known as The Alwyn, is an apartment building at 180 West 58th Street, at the southeast corner with Seventh Avenue, in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. The Alwyn Court was built between 1907 and 1909 and was designed by Harde & Short in the French Renaissance style. It is one of several luxury developments constructed along Seventh Avenue during the late 19th and early 20th century.
The building is thirteen stories tall. Its façade is clad with elaborate terracotta ornamentation in the Francis I style, with a main entrance on Seventh Avenue and 58th Street. Inside is an octagonal courtyard with a painted façade by artist Richard Haas, as well as a location of the Petrossian caviar bar. The Alwyn Court was originally built with twenty-two elaborately decorated apartments, two on every floor, which typically had fourteen rooms and five bathrooms. The interior was subdivided into 75 apartments in 1938.” Alwyn Court wiki | TheReaderWiki

This building is stunning. How I envy your skill at taking beautiful pictures.
Thankyou. These are taken with my cell. I did post processing in Lightroom to enhance them. Anyone can do that with a little effort. 🙂
Such a beautiful building. I’d love to see it!
I hope you do someday. Marc can give you a tour.
I love that building! My dentist is just down the street. Your photos are much better than any I have taken. (K)
Thankyou. I processed them to enhance the details.
Nice capture…and looks expensive!
Thanks Teresa
Such an impressive building.
It is indeed 🙂
wow – cool Francis I style. And I wonder what those 78 aprartments are like – wonder if they have been updates since 1938? Likely so
I bet they are luxury apartments. 🙂
Yes – they should be ! Ha
It was great fun looking closely at the Alwyn Court details, Sherry. Your photos captured many great features, but when I saw your comment above I realized I had missed the dragons. So I went back up and oh yes, the dragons are especially incredible.
Thank you so much Jet.
Such an ornate building. Very nice photos Sherry.
Thanks 🙂
Fabulous building.
🙂 Thanks
You captured a beautiful building, Sherry! Talking about Renaissance style – but almost leaning to Rococo with so many details …
I was wondering what to call it architecturally and lean towards Renaissance revival or Gothic revival. It has a bit of everything on it.
Yeah, hard to pinpoint:):)
One of the most decorative frontages I’d seen in midtown. Coincidentally, I’d posted some photos in 2017. they were mostly details: https://anotherglobaleater.wordpress.com/2017/08/21/15th-century-in-new-york/
Love the details in your post. This building is a winner.
That’s a wonderful building. It’s hard to imagine it being built as apartments, although 14 rooms a five bathrooms doesn’t fit my definition of an apartment. The ornamentation seems more fitting for a church, but there’s no denying that it’s beautiful.
It was always a luxury building. Glad you enjoyed it Dan.
Beautiful building in the French Renaissance style. Very nice pictures.
Thanks Larry. It is a special building.
Stunning
NY has lots of gothic style architecture which I love.
What an intricate facade. Beautiful.
Thanks Jackie
It’s a beautiful building, with exquisite details. I do have to ask — what does OT mean?
This is an architecture you would expect for a cathedral ! Awesome building
It caught my eye while waiting for the bus.
What a lovely building, the architecture is amazing 🙂
It is amazing. I love the dragons.
