I managed to identify these budding trees in Central Park. The mossy rock looks like it could be a fairy kingdom.
Shingle Oak (Quercus imbricaria), Central Park 4/29/2021 Elm (Ulma), Central Park 4/29/2021 Pin Oak (Quercus palustris), Central Park 4/29/2021 Red Buckeye (Aesculus pavia), Central Park 4/29/2021 Bitternut Hickory (Carya cordiformis), Central Park 4/29/2021 Glen Span Arch, Central Park 4/29/2021 The Loch (Chris Cooper in red), Central Park 4/29/2021 Island in The Loch Central Park 4/29/2021 Eastern Chipmunk (Tamias striatus), Central Park 4/29/2021 Loch Waterfall in the North Woods, Central Park 4/29/2021 Common Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), Central Park 4/29/2021 Lilac (Syringa vulgaris), Central Park 4/29/2021
Lovely images, Sherry. I almost felt like I was walking with you and enjoyed the plants, trees and foliage. The Buckeye flower reminded me of a Salvia species.
Great backgrounds on all your images.

Thanks Vicky. The Elm is the only one I added a background to. I used a zoom lens like a macro to get the blur in the other tree bud backgrounds. I try to have my pictures tell a little story of my walk in the park. I think I speak better with images that I do with words.

So beautiful, Sherry! Love the first three, and thinking of Central Park as a very big area with some biodiversity?

There are many plantings of non natives as well as natives. The Wildlife is quite divers for an urban park.

I’ve never paid much attention to budding trees, but your photos are proof that I should; they’re quite interesting. I enjoyed the photos of the Loch generally, especially the ‘island.’ I did grin at the little waterfall. It looks as if someone left a hose running.

The tiny leak out of the rock is funny. Young tree buds can be lovely. Thanks.

Your excellent display reminds me that Central Park is pretty large. I’m sure you know that our elms were more or less wiped out by disease

I know. Dutch Elm disease killed most of the trees here too. We are about to go to the botanical garden in the Bronx. It is dawn. Hope you are having a lovely day.
