Jamaica Bay Brant

A huge number of Brant (about) recently came in from Canada and were the stars of the show at Jamaica Bay, Brooklyn, New York. They flew over the path first to the bay then to the pond. They couldn’t decide where to settle. I love the sounds they make (click to play sounds).

Thank you. Glad you like it. I did a lot of spraying and praying with my Sony Rx10M4.

I’ve not heard of these birds, but I recognized them as geese. They have the same body shape as our white-fronted goose. Your photos are amazing — such detail.

I used a Sony Rx10M4 which has a good zoom lens on it – up to 400 mm.

I don’t think I’ve heard these over here

Thanks Derrick. These geese fly very fast. In the UK they are called Brent. Did you play the sounds?

I missed those – I’m going back to do so
