On January 2, 2016 our family took a Thames river boat to Greenwich, London. I love history, astronomy and cartography. I studied mapping in college and worked making maps using GIS for a decade — my second of three careers. First it was art, then geology/geography and now back to art as a photographer.
I made a special trip to Bermondsey Wall and the River Neckinger, that flows into the south bank of the Thames River, to photograph a group of Thames Barges moored there with Tower Bridge in the background. January 1, 2016 was a gray rainy winter day — perfect to capture the dark mood I wanted.
