The plantings are lovely.
The landscaping that is on the Little Island structure. There are new vistas at every turn.
The new manmade park, Little Island, in the Hudson River near where we live is immensely popular. There are benches and now that masks are off in the open we can use them. There are food vendors and live performances. Unfortunately they all sold out at the moment. More to come…
We went on a terrific field trip to Doodletown on Saturday. We saw many wonderful birds spotted by a sharp group of birders. Marc found a Five-lined Skink. I spotted the Worm-eating warbler. Everyone contributed sightings. The American Wisteria was blooming allover the place. It was a glorious day.
The full birds report will eventually be posted on the Linnaean NY website Field Trip Reports page.
I didn’t bring really long lens, consequently, the bird images are very grainy.
After digging out the car we drove to The Riverview Restaurant on Fair Street, off Main Street in Cold Spring, New York, and had a lovely lunch while overlooking the Hudson. Next we drove to have a quick look at Foundry Dock Park. Our final stop was an attempt to find the waterfall at Indian Brook Falls but I could not find the trail head in the snow. I’ll try again in the Spring. (check out the links)

There are some very large carved parts of old buildings housed in old wooden crates on the bank of the Hudson near 34th Street, Manhattan, NY. This is a 5 foot high head of a cow that is peering out of a broken crate. Reminds me of animal parts in a abattoir.
