High Line from 34 Street

After using the Nikon Coolpix P1100 for a few days I noticed that the movable monitor had a loose connection. I am good a picking lemons. I am not worried about the quality of the camera overall. The camera monitor works fine now. I easily exchanged it for a new one and tested it out on the way home on the High Line. The last image of The Edge, NYC Observation Deck – Edge NYC, shows how good the 3000 mm zoom is. I was 10 blocks away, which is about half a mile.

    I really enjoyed the High Line Park photos, Sherry. It is grown up so much since your years-earlier photos. Excellent range on your new camera. The pigeon sculpture is a hoot.

    Looks like the P1100 has a very shallow depth of field. Is that right, or are you using some special mode?

      There is a macro mode in the P1100 but I didn’t use that feature here. And I can set a shallow depth of field in aperture priority of up to f2.8.

    It is a blessing for people to have a patches of nature near where they live. You have captured the heart of it with your pictures. Have you seen odonates or butterflies on the High Line?

      I have seen butterflies and odonates on the High Line but not as many as in there are in Central Park. The Hudson River Park has lots of native wildflowers and is attracting a lot of insect life these days.

      I was on the Edge once when B & H Camera store had an expo. It costs a lot.
