Sugar Museum

We manage to catch the Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum | Maui Hawaii open one day. It is a nice little museum.

I grinned at the sign on the sugar mill. “Ancient” isn’t necessarily the word I’d use to describe something from 1802. Do you happen to know if they burn the fields there? If there’s a strong east wind, we always know when the cane fields in Louisiana are being burned.

I believe they used to burn the fields. They no longer farm sugar cane. That era is over.

Thanks for sharing this. It’s a fascinating story, I would never have guessed that so much work was required.
