Nature Wins

One of my favorite photographs made in 2011 by the Hudson River in Manhattan. Left alone nature will take over. On the left is before processing an don the right after I warmed it up.

Fascinating. Especially your dialogue with Barbara. The lights on the plant are the best bits for me.

Thanks Derrick. Many times, people see things differently. My intent doesn’t always come across.

Any crack with a tiny bit of soil is an opening for plants to take over. There is a huge tree behind our building that started that way. Thanks, and good cheer.

Like your photos entitled Urban Green. The natural lighting of the photo on the left side I favor simply because it appears more natural to me. Also like your overall title – “Nature Wins”!

Why I did the edits. Changing the color changes the mood and makes the concrete gloomier. I put lights on the plant to make that more cheerful. I am telling a story here.

I appreciate the explanation and will take another look with your comments in mind. I think sometimes the “urge to merge” with nature takes precedence for me over the artistic – perhaps especially after I haven’t been out for a few days! 🙂

The story is nature triumphing over man. A uniform cheery bright gray/green of the unedited version doesn’t tell that story. I set the plant in a darker background like in an old painting.
