This was one of my favorite places on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Luckily we got there very early before the tourists arrived.
The Fairy Pools are located in Glen Brittle at the foot of the Black Cuillin mountains. They are formed along the Allt Coire a’ Mhadaidh (Burn of the Dog) and cascade into the River Brittle, creating a series of vivid aqua-blue pools and waterfalls.
The area was the site of the Battle of Coire na Creiche in 1601, one of the last and bloodiest clan battles on Skye.
The name “Fairy Pools” emerged in the 1930s, inspired by local legends, including tales of a Clan MacLeod chief marrying a fairy princess and the pools’ ethereal blue colors, which give the area a magical appearance.
