Every town we went to in Germany has great doors. We stayed at Pension Nord (door shown below) for two days in Dessau while visiting Heike’s family. While in Dessau we drove to the historic town of Lutherstadt Wittenberg, which is 35 km or 22 miles from there.
Ahh, yes, Sherry, you can do this again!! What a marvellous collection! So much beauty and warmth and interesting shapes and styles. Every time I thought I had a favourite, a new one came along! 🙂 Thank you for this!
I can’t decide on a favorite. Too many choices, both stately and shabby chic. Is that by chance a statue of Martin Luther in the background of the one shot. Considering it’s in Wittenberg, I’d think there was a good chance it is.
I love old wooden doors, even the ones that are deteriorating. You captured so many wonderful doors, Sherry. As I’ve been following your photos from Germany, I’ve seen doors and thought “oh, that would be good for Thursday Doors” – Little did I know you had this stash. The door at Pension Nord is beautiful, and I think it’s my favorite, but you made it very hard to choose. The other wooden doors, the gate with its remarkable hinges, the wonderful operable transom window over that nice wooden door, a corner door and a blue door. You really outdid yourself. Thanks so much for sharing these with us.

I think you are right about the statue. It’s Luther. Have a great day.

Germany sure did us proud doorwise. 🙂 I saved these up for Thursday. As we tour, I keep Thursday doors in mind. We have one more to come…
