Chinatown to GV Walk

On Tuesday I took a long quiet walk from Chinatown to Greenwich Village (home).

On Doyers Street in Chinatown, which is all boarded up, there was a hearse at the end leading a funeral procession.

I sat on a stoop to eat my lunch on Mercer Street. I saw a handful of people on my walk and we all stayed far from each other. I took a few photos of shop windows that I liked.

Downing and Morton Streets are in the Village. I was sad to see this poor plane tree so mistreated. The fence is embedded in its bark on all four sides.

Chilling. It’s hard to believe this is New York. This sure is changing how we see the world. Very happy for this community to connect with. Stay well.

Very eerie indeed. It is the same here. It is strange to have to do big circles to avoid meeting people. It is counter-intuitive for humans. I certainly hope we don’t lose some of the human contacts when the situation gets back to normal. There will probably be a lot of changes in our society afterward but we are social beast by nature so hopefully we will regain it. Take care. (Suzanne)

I am glad I have this way of contacting people. It helps me feel less isolated. I would love it if we had windows to sing to our neighbors like I hear the Italians are doing.

Thanks for taking us with you on this highly unusual look at NYC this week, Sherry. Your photos are great, emphasizing the current emptiness but showing all the signs of a busy city. Wishing you well, my friend, during these difficult times.

Thanks Jet. Let’s hope a cure and/or vaccine is found soon.

I wanted to show it that way. My husband keeps singing Ghost Town by the Specials.

      • Sue 2020-03-27 / 8:57 am

A tad irritating if he keeps singing it??

        • Sherry Felix 2020-03-27 / 9:01 am

It is stuck in my head now. I happen to like the song so it isn’t too bad. LOL
