On our way tto the anual Linnaean Society of NY dinner I photgraphed the Fifth Avenue Synagogue’s Moorish style door (1927) at 50 East 87th Street, in Manhattan.
Beautifully done, Sherry. I really miss things like this. I lived in NYC for many years – in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Riverdale and Staten Island! There are many things about NY that I won’t find anywhere else.
A wonderful door!
Thank you.
Thank you. I hope you find special things too.

Very wonderful, amazing intricacy
Thanks for dropping by. Yes it is lovely.
Glorious, both doors and everything that surrounds them.

Glad you like ’em.
Lovely tones
Thanks. Using OnOne post helped.
In the first photo I was surprised that the 2 pillars were different … then in the second photo I recognized the symmetry of the double pairs.
It’s so strikingly ornate! Very impressive!!
Thanks Joanne.
What a gorgeous doorway! Great photos, especially the close-up 🙂
Thanks Eunice. I took them with my Galaxy 8+ cell phone and edited in Lightroom and onOne.
Oooo, how wonderful! <3
Thank you Manja. It’s an eye catcher alright.
Wow Sherry, that is downright gorgeous!
Thanks Norm. It is amazing what hidden treasures can be found in NYC.
Beautiful doorway. There are similar decorations at the Alhambra in Granada in Spain, a Moorish palace and gardens.
It seems a little strange that German Jews approved that design.
It does, Sherry. I wonder why they used it.
Beautiful!! I love the intricate patterns on the door columns. Are they supposed to be its Mezuzah? Good eye, Sherry! Love, Cathy

Not sure what the designs represent. There used to be more on the walls but they eroded off.
