On the weekend of January 6th it was 6 degrees Fahrenheit and today, January 12th, it will be 60. Marc took these pictures of ice floes in the Hudson River for me yesterday.
My goodness, it looks cold but at least it’s getting warmer. The lakes and waterfall are still frozen here in Minnesota and I don’t think it’s getting warmer here 😦
Wow! That is something. Our South Saskatchewan River used to get ice floes so large, they would take out bridges at the beginning of the 1900s. What with dams, and power stations, not so much anymore, no more ice floes, so it is something to see ice floes indeed.
brr, brr, and brr. Great photos Marc took, I love seeing the ice floes and especially the big handsome fire boat. Stay warm Sherry!

It’s very difficult to imagine such low temperatures. For us here, if it touches freezing point it is quite unusual

It’s nice to see the ice. I don’t like the extreme 60 degree temperature shifts.

The way the world’s weather is changing we may have ice or heat. The jet stream is in flux.

The ice is on the water and the air is warm today. It’s usual to get ice floes in winter.

It’s a good thing the emergency airplane landing on the Hudson didn’t take place when the river was as shown here.
