Marine Nature Study Area

The Marine Nature Nature Study Area in Hempstead, Nassau County, Long Island by the Long Island Sound. It is a nice little sanctuary with boardwalks out into the marsh. My prize of the day was the clapper rail briefly seen as it ran from one cover to the next. I haven’t seen one for decades. Terns are fun to watch and hard to photograph. I made two composites of one diving. We also enjoyed watching a yellow-crowned Night Heron pulling things out of the mud.
