Sandy Hook 1 Birds

On Saturday we attended the Littoral Society‘s annual picnic at Sandy Hook, part of Gateway NRA. We went on the bird walk led by Don Riepe. I lost count of the Ospreys. Every chimney had a nest.

Great Swamp and Lord Stirling

On Sunday we went with the Linnaean Society of NY to the Great Swamp NWR in Morris County, New Jersey and Lord Stirling Park in Somerset County, New Jersey. The photos signed Felix are by Marc. He found the wood frog.

Skylands

The New Jersey Botanical Gardens at Skylands has a mansion and formal gardens. It is in Passaic County. I like going there because it is lovely and an easy place to walk around and it is very pretty.

Greenbrook

On a very cold day in early March at Greenbrook Nature Sanctuary in Bergen County, New Jersey on the Palisades. There was still ice on the lake. We didn’t stay long because it was so cold.

Scenes in Forsythe

I used my wide angle Nikon 14-24 mm 2.8 f lens for these photographs taken at Edwin B. Forsythe NWR, except for the last one with the grasses.

Birds in Forsythe

My main goal at E. B. Forsythe NWR was to see some Snow Geese – mission accomplished. We also saw a Snowy Owl way off in the marsh and an immature Bald Eagle. It is so relaxing to drive around the loop with my scope and camera. The weather on Sunday was shirtsleeve warm.
