Seaport and DUMBO Doors

Post 6 of 8. For Thursday Doors. The Seaport is in Manhattan, New York City. Brown and Co Stationers is by the 1626 East River low water mark. There are some old printing presses inside.

Dumbo, is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It encompasses two sections: one located between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, which connects Brooklyn to Manhattan across the East River, and another that continues east from the Manhattan Bridge to the Vinegar Hill area.

And DUMBO is in Brooklyn There are some fine old buildings inland above the Old Pier 1 on Middagh Street in Brooklyn. See MIDDAGH STREET, Brooklyn Heights – Forgotten New York (forgotten-ny.com).

I love these, Sherry, even though I was disappointed not to see an elephant door. 🙂 I like the anchor in the first shot, too.

Bowne & Co is a wonderful looking building.I have always loved the buildings near the seaport. These are great photos.I like those iron doors on Water St and the hardware at 31 Washington (thanks for the close up). The iron railing is equally amazing. Great collection today!

OK. This time I’ll ask for an explanation. What is DUMBO? The only thing that comes to mind when I see the word is a big-eared baby elephant.

This should cover it: Dumbo, an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Ah, ha! Thanks. When I searched, I kept getting thrown into a morass of Disney references.
