More memories stirred, here. When I returned to the States from Liberia, I spent some time in NYC, and attended worship at St. Thomas. Everyone was friendly as could be, but when I was invited to join in at the ‘sherry hour’ after worship, I certainly did a double take. It was a “Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore” moment, that’s for sure. But what a beautiful building, as are the others you’ve shown here.

How fascinating. I never heard of a church having a ‘sherry hour’. Glad you liked these.

Out of curiosity, I browsed the church’s site, and found that they now offer a ‘coffee hour.’ I can only imagine the discussions that led to the change.

Splendid doors, Sherry. The University Club made me do a triple take. Their carved columns are amazing too. Hugs on the wing.

These are grand entrances, Sherry. Even the side door to Saint Thomas Church is beautiful. I love the details carved into the entrance of the University Club, and above the entrance and on the balcony of 7 W 54th street. The church main entrance is amazing. I think I’d be holding up traffic if tried to enter.
