NYBG Trees and Nature

We took two friends with us to the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx on Thursday, May 6. It was a glorious spring day. We covered the entire garden. After the garden we ate an Italian meal near Arthur Avenue. There are enough pictures to spread over 4 days.

I like the pic of the Japanese maple against the blue sky and white clouds, it’s lovely 🙂

I liked your maple pictures, Sherry. They are a beautiful tree throughout the year (and one of my favorites).

wow, Sherry, what a day!! All of this beauty in one day. Your photos are a delight, highlighting the subtleties and overviews so beautifully. I liked seeing the different species names, one of the joys of a BG. I enjoyed every single photo, but that red maple with the big sky photo (#3) was a fave, also the interesting blue spruce stages of growth (#2), and the entrance to the rock garden (#5) with the inviting open gate and empty bench was delightful. Also fun to see your companions the American Lady and Gray Catbird. Thanks for so artfully sharing this glorious day.

I especially enjoyed seeing the Bronx river. I must say, if someone had asked me to describe my associations with the phrase ‘Bronx river,’ that’s not what I would have visualized!

You are right. This little stretch of the Bronx River is what Native Americans might have seen.
