Skylands

The New Jersey Botanical Gardens at Skylands has a mansion and formal gardens. It is in Passaic County. I like going there because it is lovely and an easy place to walk around and it is very pretty.

I love the first shot with the pump house and the third shot with all the colours, it’s beautiful 🙂

I usually don’t enjoy formal gardens, but I must say I enjoyed the photos of this place. It seems more relaxed, somehow. It was fun to see a familiar face: the little geranium. We have a related native species, Geranium dissectum, that’s almost identical. I especially liked your second photo, showing the variety of trees, and those of the lilacs.

Most of it is not too formal which is why I like it. I have discovered on Wikipedia that there are lots of wild geranium species. 🙂 👋

Of course. I’ve been away from my blog for months now, and it’s lovely to be back and catching up on all the amazing posts I missed. 💛

Love this series of flower shots. Some of them almost look like botanical art paintings.

Thank you Vicki. Using a macro lens helps create that effect.

Hamilton Gardens looks a bit too formal for me. I prefer wilder looking gardens. I want to see NZ sometime. I enjoyed the Blue Mountains in AU.

Ah. I see. What I enjoyed about Hamilton is that it was different. It showed the gardens of the world. And Blue Mountains you say? We have a post for that too. 😉

They need money to do so. That is why I posted the link. A hole in the roof is bad news.

It is worth a visit. Pity the rain this weekend spoiled my plans.

I can see why you like going there – and you do it justice. The B/Ws work well and the decaying stump is lovely

Thanks Derrick. The stump makes a lovely planter. I recently bought little flowerpots that look like tree stumps.
