CP with LSNY

It was lovely seeing my friends at the Central Park trip with The Linnaean Society of New York on Saturday. The leaders are the best and so helpful. We covered half of the Park for about 4 hours. I missed 9 of the 44 species of birds spotted. You are welcome to attend the excellent free programs and if you want to go on a trip and you are not a member let me know and you can come as my guest.

Let me know when. Check out https://www.linnaeannewyork.org/ We have some visitors behind our apartment building: Bluebirds, Cardinals, Robins, Starlings, Sparrow, Mockingbirds, and of course Rock Pigeons. Not all at once.

Love your cardinal portrait! One of the first birds I learned when I lived in Maryland as a child.

Thanks Dan. The woodpeckers lose a lot of their nests to starlings. I hope this one succeeds.

Thanks. I didn’t have time to take many pictures as it wasn’t a photo outing.

I know LOL I think some birds seem to think that if a twig covers their eye we can’t see them.

This was a great joy to see the birds of Central Park, Sherry. I am impressed with the number of sightings–44 in 4 hours in CP in winter; and photographing too. It is so fun to go on bird walks with great leaders and great birders; nice to see your friends again, too. Your photos are terrific, every one. I espec. like that delicious close-up of the male cardinal. Many thanks for these.

I really enjoyed the arc of the bufflehead in the last photo. The clarity of the water makes it even more delightful.
