Forsythe Landscapes

After an unsuccessful attempt at house hunting in NJ on Friday. We went to E. B. Forsythe NWR in the afternoon. It was a rainy and very buggy. The little specks in the mud are all the shorebirds. Details in next post.

Hi Sherry Nice photos of Forsythe. Yes it is Buggy but so beautiful and ever changing that I enjoy the preserve in all kinds of weather. We were there in a huge Thunderstorm last month that turned the preserve black and sent the birds whirling for cover. The Marsh Mallows are in full bloom Now which makes some of the marsh views totally hot pink. We go every Wednesday to drive around the loop and we pick the best sightings of the day. Last week it was the 8 American Avocets. Did you see them? How is House Hunting going? XO Linda

Thanks Linda. I looked hard for Avocets but unfortunately didn’t see any. I can’t seem to find an agent who listens to my request for a garden that I can create. We also don’t want to be buried in the middle of an over 55 development. Those places won’t allow us to make a garden and they are fenced in at the edges like penitentiaries. I’ve found places but the agents don’t call aback.

Yes, I also hope your house-hunting pays off soon, but in the meantime…..

What a lovely nature reserve to visit. Beautiful landscapes and that wonderful feeling of being outdoors and in the country.

Thanks for sharing. I needed a visual boost today.

I’m glad you like the scenery. I needed a boost too after being shown a what looked like storage lockers for people with no gardens. My first requirement is a little land for a garden.

When I was younger my dreams always included a little cottage garden with herbs and fragrant old-fashioned flowers. Of course gardens take hard work and constant maintenance, but even small gardens uplift and can be frangrant. Hope you find the right house soon. It would be an extra boost in these difficult times to set up house and make a new garden.

My plan is to plant or allow local wild plants to grow that birds and insects like. Not cultivated non-native plants. My sort of garden will eventually mostly maintain itself if the plants are chosen wisely. 🙂

Thanks Derrick. Lots of drama with the cloudy skies. It is going to take many months to find a suitable place to move to on our tiny budget. I am taking a short break. I need to find an agent who listens to me and doesn’t waste my time showing me places where I am not allowed to create a garden. Over 55 communities often look like penitentiaries or storage rooms. Unless one is wealthy enough to afford the best.
