We rented a car to free our wings for a bit. Doodletown is an hour out of New York City by the Hudson River. It is a steep walk on dirt paths past old foundations of a hamlet.
The first set is flora and landscapes and the second is avian. The highlight of the day was the nesting Redstart. The indigo bunting was one quick shot from the back.

Hi Sherry Thank you for posting your lovely virtual tour of Doodletown. I was happy to go there with you to see some of the old favorite sights of past days birding Doodletown in Spring migration. What a great idea to rent a car to go there and then to post your visit. I am birding this migration virtually from coast to coast and I have learned a great deal from posts of my fellow birders all over the country. If it is photo Of what is seen I study it, if it is a listing I look it up. A favorite bird this year is the white-headed woodpecker photo from Oregon. Jerry and I are in very strict quarantine. We left for our NJ house 3/11 s as and have not returned. We are in very very strict quarantine. No one comes in and we do not go out except to Jerry’s sculpture studio which is on a river so we have purple martins flying to the houses we put up and Canada geese with goslings foraging in the grasses. Once a week we drive around Forsythe in the car and I have had great luck there with Many Black Skimmers skimming being a favorite. Seeing many Whimbrels and 2 rare Hudsonian godwits. Hope you and Marc and your kids in England are all safe and healthy. All my Best wishes for great views of warblers this migration and great health now and in the future. I did have a male Common Yellowthroat in my garden yesterday. I was so so happy to see that bandito mask again. Xxoo Linds

Thanks for the lovely note. We have to go out to shop for food so cannot remain in strict quarantine. It would help to know if we are immune now that we have had it. We limit outdoor activities. No Central Park or other places. I love Forsyth. I was thinking of going there when we rented the car. I won’t rent another one for a long time as it is too expensive and there is no way to get an early start unless we rent for two days. Glad you are both OK.

The birds and flowers are popping against the amazingly lush backdrops. I am so glad that you and Marc could treat yourselves to this get-away. I love the Indigo Bunting but I love a little flash.
Stay safe but marvelous to be exploring cautiously our wonderful world.

Thanks Carl. All the rain we had this Spring makes it extra green. I am very cautious. It will be a while until I venture out again. Good to have this memory.

We’re also finding it hard that we can’t get to some of our favorite spots at an early hour without staying overnight near them…. still not ready for that yet.

I don’t think there are any lodgings open in NJ and NY yet. Only a few takeouts for food which are far and few between. It will be great when the quarantine loosens up. There is no answer yet about immunity after having Corvid-19 or if someone who has had it is a carrier. I had to cancel a job today after having to leave a bus when a few unmasked peole got on.
