Black-and-White Warbler breeds in northern and eastern North America and winters in Florida, Central America, and the West Indies down to Peru. One of its calls is so high pitched I need my hearing aids to hear it:

Very funny. To get technical on you, the West Indies is a region of the North Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean that includes the island countries and surrounding waters of three major archipelagos: the Greater Antilles, the Lesser Antilles, and the Lucayan Archipelago.

Yep. I was born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I’ve lived in St. Lucia, Barbados, and Antigua. It’s always been the West Indies.
I’ve given up saying “West Indies” with most Americans (at least the ones I encounter in New Jersey and other states outside New York City) who ask where I’m from. Caribbean works for them, although most don’t pronounce the word correctly.

The West Indies is a chain of islands in the Caribbean ocean. It’s not region of any ocean.
