LGBT Sculpture at Hudson

Hudson River Park – LGBT memorial designed by artist Anthony Goicolea at 12^th Street and Bethune Street is a monument to the LGBT community erected to recognize those lost in the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting in June 2016, and all victims of hate, intolerance and violence. Constructed of nine modified “boulders” fabricated in bronze, some of which are bisected with a clear, laminated glass imbedded with prisms to refract rainbow patterns on the surrounding area.

I don’t usually post other people’s art work but these look so nice in the park I wanted to share them.

  Your welcome. I think the same. I hope it is a permanent work of art.
  There is an aids memorial at Greenwich Avenue and 7th Avenue https://nycaidsmemorial.org/ which I find cold and uninviting. A shame that it isn’t a pretty place to sit and reflect. My brother died of aids in 1994.

    Dear Sherry, I lost many dear friends to AIDS in 1993 and 1994, it is heart-wrenching. I am sorry for the loss of your brother. I hope you now have a place, here at this sculpture, to reflect on the life of your brother.
