Looks like Mexican Bush Sage (Salvia leucantha) – we grow it everywhere in Melbourne Australia, particularly public places like parks and zoo landscaping.

I learned a lot of plant names while living next to our Royal Botanic Gardens for the first 5 years of my photography hobby and early retirement, but I am slowly forgetting them now I live closer to nature reserves and ordinary parkland with fewer flower beds (or none at all).

Is that the one in Sydney? I love that garden and visited it often during my stays with my sister and mother.

Melbourne, Sherry. Out of all the Botanic Gardens I’ve been to in Australia, the U.K. and Europe, I still like Melbourne’s best of all. I think it is the diverse range of flower & plants from when it started in 1846. It has some 55,000 plants, although over the last 5 years or so, many beds have been changed to plants from Africa and South America due to our droughts and lack of water. There’s only small patches of English cottage garden plants left now.
