    New York is 1700 miles from Austin, but we have painted ladies and monarchs here too, and I’ve photographed both recently.

    Your last photograph looks like it might show sweetgum leaves.

      Monarchs and other tiny butterflies make remarkable journeys. Yes the leaves are sweetgum.
