Decker Building door

The Decker Building—periodically referred to as the Union Building—is located at 33 Union Square West in Manhattan, New York City. Built in 1892 for the Decker Brothers piano company according to designs by the radical anarchist architect John H. Edelmann, it replaced the earlier Decker Building on the same lot, designed by Leopold Eidlitz and built in 1869.

Andy Warhol had his Factory on the sixth floor of this building from 1968 through 1973. It is also where Valerie Solanas shot Warhol and art critic and curator Mario Amaya in 1968 (Souce: Wikipedia).

Beautifully ornate and really something about the history of the place!

(The Serrapepsidase from Doctor’s Best, that i ordered, seems to be helping nicely with my arthritis. You may want to give it a try for Lyme’s, which it is supposed to help with too; do searches on it on Google if you are interested.) 🙂

    If you get it, get the Doctor’s Best brand, which has a special kind of coating that only allows it to be absorbed in the intestines… which is where it needs to be absorbed. If digested in the stomach, the enzyme is destroyed. It must be taken on an empty stomach (20 minutes before meals). Gook luck! 🙂

Great facade, Sherry. I like the slice you used in the first shot, but I did enjoy seeing the rest of the building, too.

Wow! Great building with fun history. I had no idea that that is where Warhol’s factory was. I remember going for a job interview in that building – before 1968. Probably was so focused in the interview I never “saw” the building. Great to see it now!
